Steve’s Plants brought lettuce plants to the Lexington Farmers Market this spring that were so beautiful they looked like an art study in ruffled green and bronze. See a larger Steve’s Plants lettuce canvas here.
We buy our Brandywine tomato plants from Steve (center, above) each year. This year we got the other essential tomato plants from him too: the ever-so-necessary garden candy also known as Gold Rush tomatoes.
Later in the season, Steve’s Plants offers otherwise hard-to-find sour cherries along with several types of berries, plus a full growing season of vegetables and greens of all kinds. Steve says he grows his plants in Boyle and Jessamine Counties, and also works with Jerome Lange in Casey County. Lange is the well-known organic teacher and advocate who grows many vegetables for Good Foods Coop.
