Spring’s Green: Garlic!

Blue Moon's Green Garlic, 2009
Millions of them are out there, getting ready for us – tall, green, nose-to-tail edible green garlic plants. Expect thousands to appear at the Lexington Farmers Market on opening day, particularly from cherished Blue Moon Farm. Opening day will be April 10, 2010 – in a fancy new glass pavilion, we trust.

I look forward to trying my favorite Blue Moon Garlic Scrambled Eggs with some of the tiny crop of green garlic growing in our urban side yard this year. The first shoots may be ready just in time to add green to St. Patrick’s Day.

Enjoy this fine article on green garlic’s wonders and uses from Amy Scattergood at the Los Angeles Times.
