Rona, (you may have seen on my facebook) Oliver and I just did as you suggested! We were having another bike-riding lesson in Wilkirson Alley, and I had stopped to explicate braking in detail, when Oliver said "Hold on, Daddy, I'm just gonna get something". He got off the bike (looking, I think, for any distraction from my lecture), and promptly picked up a mulberry off the new pavement. My initial reaction, was, "Yes, Oliver, a mulberry, that's nice," and then I remembered your article! We quickly started picking from the abundant tree above us, and eventually made a trip back to the house to pick up a bowl from the kitchen and a ladder from the garage (our tree's branches aren't quite so low as yours). We had them on our Alden's ice cream after supper. What a delight! Thanks for sharing your wisdom, as always!
