Vote for a White House Veggie Garden

by Rona on October 24, 2008

John Garey, Garey FarmsThat’s John Garey of Garey Farms in Bourbon County, Kentucky, a major grower for the Lexington Farmers Market. And wouldn’t John be a great candidate for the Farmer in Chief Michael Pollan proposed recently?

Go to Kitchen Gardeners International to sign an e-petition  urging development of a large garden on the South Lawn at the White House. (There are 17 acres of lawn there — should be enough for some peas and tomatoes — and Eleanor Roosevelt did it once, so this should be easy.)

You may have to look around on the sides for the petition. It moves around depending on your screen and monitor and other factors. Look for a charming “photo” of our two Prez wannabes.
