The Percolator meets weekly to connect people in central Kentucky who work on all aspects of the local food system. Anita Courtney calls it a “food think tank.” Meetings are informal, fun, and short. Organizer Rona Roberts says “Agriculture is Kentucky’s Silicon Valley.” And one factor that speeded up innovation in Silicon Vally was beer, lunch, connections among many different people with overlapping interests. The Percolator makes it easy for people to connect their work to each other. The Percolator also occasionally launches its own projects in support of local food in the Bluegrass.
